What is a business plan? A business plan (also known as a business plan) is, as the word suggests, a plan for your business. The term has many names - there are several definitions - but most people define a business plan as a manual or plan for starting a new business. A document that describes the idea behind your business and how you intend to run and develop it.
The plan must include the following:
Executive summary - here you provide the bank advisor, business consultant and other interested parties with an overview of the most important information from the business plan.
Business idea description - this describes the business idea that your business will be based on and how it differs from the market.
What resources and skills do you have at your disposal - remember, this is where you need to convince others that you have what it takes to succeed.
What is the product - this describes what value you bring to the market.
Target audience and market - this is where you describe how you will build your market, how big it is, who is your target audience.
How to sell and market - describe how you will go to market, how you will sell and market.
Organization and management - describes business processes, organizational structure, ownership, location, business processes.
Goal for the future - this describes the goal, which should be ambitious and realistic at the same time.
How you're going to get there - what plans do you have to reach the goal, milestones, metrics.
Finances - such as a start-up budget, operating budget, cash flow budget and possibly a personal budget.
The interface between a business plan and a strategic plan is often very difficult and therefore many see them as one and the same thing. However, a business plan is usually the "small" plan you draw up when setting up your business, while a strategic plan is the plan you draw up when you have become established and want to grow and become a bigger business.
Online, templates are abounding to prepare business plans. You can also apply MakeMyStrategy™ which is much more than a template :-)
In a controlled way, we can now approach our strategy work without having to immerse ourselves in the theory and the different models
